Synopsis

Students are expected to complete a doctoral dissertation that reflects an original, applied and independent scholarly contribution to the body of knowledge in the chosen field. This will culminate in a dissertation examination, which is followed by an oral defence. The student will be guided by a dissertation supervisor in the completion of the dissertation. The culmination of a doctoral candidate’s final stage of graduate research study lies in the writing, submission and defence of the dissertation.

Presentation Pattern: EVERY REGULAR SEMESTER

Topics

  • The topics are to be aligned to the topic of the dissertation, as advised by a supervisor.

  • Prepare a scientific and rigorous applied research proposal.
  • Analyse and discuss research results.
  • Conclude implications of findings.
  • Plan and execute data collection during field research.
  • Organise and analyse data, and interpret the results.
  • Construct a detailed and comprehensive dissertation.
