Programme Overview

Bachelor of Building and Project Management​

The Bachelor of Building and Project Management programme (BBPM) is a partnership programme between Singapore University of Social Sciences​ and BCA Academy. The programme equips participants with a repertoire of specialist knowledge and skills for the productive management of projects. Participants will be trained in a broad spectrum of competencies including interdisciplinary studies in building design and technology, construction management, international project management, cost management, contract administration, safety management and sustainability. The programme has strong support from the industry, and the curriculum has taken into account of the strengths of established programmes in project management, feedback from industry, accreditation requirements and flexibility of career options.
 
The degree has been accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), UK and the Singapore Institute of Surveyors and Valuers. It is also recognised for Quantity Surveying (QS) discipline by Public Sector Panels Of Consultants (PSPC).​

Applicants with relevant diploma from BCA Academy may be considered for admission.​
Bachelor of Building and Project Management
Students are required to complete a total of 130 credit units (cu) to graduate with a basic degree, inclusive of 10 cu of SUSS core courses.
 
The breakdown of the cu to be completed is:
  • 110 cu of Compulsory courses;
  • 10 cu of Unrestricted Electives; and
  • 10 cu of SUSS Core courses.
 
Bachelor (Honours) of Building and Project Management
This programme has an honours option. Students who achieve a CGPA of 3.5 and above upon completion of their basic degree will be invited to enroll in the Honours programme. A total of 170 cu is required to graduate with honours, inclusive of 10 cu of SUSS core courses.
 
The breakdown of the cu to be completed is:
  • 110 cu of Compulsory courses;
  • 30 cu of Elective courses;
  • 10 cu Compulsory Capstone Project;
  • 10 cu of Unrestricted Electives; and
  • 10 cu of SUSS Core courses.
 
The curriculum is structured such that:
  • Level 1 consists of foundational building and project management courses such as interdisciplinary studies in construction, construction technology and construction IT & building information modeling.
  • Level 2 consists of core building and project management courses such as productivity management, procurement management and cost management.
  • Level 3 consists of advanced building and project management courses such as life-cycle costing & sustainable design and construction and project development & finance and project scheduling & control.
  • Level 4 consists of honours courses such as advanced construction technology, professional practices & case studies in construction project management and international construction project management.

The programme is suitable for aspiring project managers or practicing professionals in the building and construction industry, and graduates with a polytechnic diploma or GCE "A" levels.
​Graduates with a degree in Building and Project Management have a wide range of career opportunities. They will have the flexibility and proficiency to take up roles in areas such as Project Management, Construction Management, Facility Management, Cost Management/ Estimation/ Quantity Surveying, Procurement and Contract Administration etc.

The programme is designed to be recognised by professional institutions such as the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), Society of Project Managers (SPM) and Singapore Institute of Surveyors and Valuers (SISV).​
