True success lies not in the medals, but in the journey
Back in the Pool: Justin's Return to Glory
Justin's return to competitive swimming after a two-year hiatus presented a significant challenge. "Feeling underprepared, I was hesitant to dive right back in," he recalls. However, driven by a strong sense of duty to Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) and a lifelong passion for the sport, he decided to overcome his apprehension.
"Despite the strenuous demands of university life," Justin shares, "I made it a point to attend every training session leading up to the Singapore University Games (SUniG)." He approached each training session with unwavering dedication, pushing his limits and striving for continuous improvement. "I went in with the mindset that I was there to leave the pool knowing that I had given everything that I got," he explains.

"As long as you lived today better than yesterday, count that in itself as a success. "
Justin credits his success to the unwavering support of his coaches and teammates. "Throughout the process, I would like to thank Coach Gary and Alan for motivating and pushing me to supersede my limits," he says. "I would also like to give a shout-out to my swim mates for cheering and supporting me on."
His dedication paid off. At SUniG, Justin secured a silver and a bronze medal, showcasing his resilience and determination. "I am proud of my performance at SUniG," he states, "and I'm excited to continue representing SUSS and bringing glory to the university."

Justin is deeply honoured to have received the Colour Award. "I believe that initiatives like this are crucial in motivating students to strive for greatness," he reflects. "It is incredibly inspiring to be part of such a supportive community." This recognition has further fueled his determination to achieve new heights and continue representing SUSS with distinction.
For Justin, success extends beyond medals and accolades. "I define success as improvement," he explains. "As long as there is the pursuit for improvement, that in itself is a form of success, no matter how insignificant it may seem." He emphasises that "small wins," such as consistently arriving early for lectures, are equally significant milestones on the path to achieving greater goals.
Justin's journey serves as an inspiration to all SUSS students. His story demonstrates the power of dedication, perseverance, and the importance of recognising and celebrating every step of the journey towards success.
