Staying Grounded, Advancing with Innovation: Pathways to High-Quality Development in Early Childhood Chinese Education 

Amid globalisation, demographic shifts, and rapid technological advancement, early childhood Chinese education faces both challenges and opportunities. Drawing on practices from China and Singapore, this talk highlights the importance of remaining grounded in child-centred learning, cultural rootedness, play-based learning, and humanistic values. These elements help nurture children’s connection to their mother tongue and cultural identity. It further explores how updating educational philosophies, strengthening teacher capacity, and leveraging technology can support higher quality and more sustainable development in early childhood Chinese education.
