Chiew Yu Cheng 's Pursuit Of Excellence On and Off The Field.

Yu Cheng received a prestigious award in recognition of his outstanding achievements as a national athlete. His journey to this point has been marked by resilience, dedication, and a strong sense of teamwork.

"This award was awarded to me and my teammates for representing Singapore in the sport we love, Ultimate Frisbee," Yu Cheng shares. "It wasn't always easy. I faced challenges during the national team trials. Things took a slight detour, and I landed on a different team, which has actually been really interesting."

Yu Cheng candidly acknowledges the mental hurdles he overcame. "The support and encouragement from my teammates, the 'Scorpions,' a group of dedicated individuals who simply wanted to have fun on the sand," he recalls. His teammates played a crucial role in his personal growth, pushing him beyond his self-doubt and helping him achieve new heights.

Being a student athlete requires immense dedication and passion. Balancing his academic pursuits with the demands of elite-level sport has been a significant challenge for Yu Cheng. "Juggling studies, training, and competitions demands meticulous time management and a strong work ethic,” he reflects.

Yu Cheng emphasises the importance of academic excellence alongside athletic pursuits. "I strive to excel in my studies while simultaneously pursuing my passion for Ultimate Frisbee," he explains. "I believe that academic success and athletic achievement are not mutually exclusive. In fact, they can complement each other."
