Teaching and learning don't just take place in the classroom. Our advanced online learning infrastructure allows you to continue your learning outside the classroom. In the community, workplace or even overseas, our partners offer opportunities for you to immediately apply your learning and test the feasibility of your ideas with a wider audience. Teaching and learning at SUSS are designed to mirror the real world as much as possible, where you learn on the job and learning can happen anywhere, anytime.
Prepare
You may not have class for each course every week, so make your time in class worthwhile. Grasp the basics beforehand, and dedicate your time for engagement and deeper learning.
Prepare for class using our award-winning learning companion, iSmartGuide, which features AI-powered tools to personalise your learning. Depending on the nature of the course, your instructor may also provide other resources, including books, articles and videos, for you to peruse before class.
Engage
Come and engage our passionate and dedicated instructors. Many are professionals, specialists or leaders in the subjects which they teach. Take part in lively discussions with instructors who will share their rich experience in industry or community with you.
Widen your perspectives by learning alongside your peers. From school leavers to working adults and Gen Zs to silver learners, everyone brings a fresh perspective that can help you to appreciate the subject in a more nuanced light. Whether it is a discussion, debate or presentation, your instructor will be there to facilitate your learning.
Enhancing Class Participation and Engagement in Undergraduate Courses
From July 2027 semester onwards, class participation will be progressively introduced across undergraduate courses.
With this initiative, we hope to help you get more out of your time in class, further your learning, and build the skills which today's employers hire for.
Get more out of your time in classWhen you ask questions, listen actively or share ideas with your peers, you are applying what you have learnt. You are also evaluating your learning - gaps in understanding, blind spots, alternative viewpoints - which can deepen your understanding of the subject. | Build the skills employers hire forIn a world filled with AI and models that are constantly improving day by day, there is no shortage of knowledge. What is in short supply are people who can communicate effectively, work well with others, think critically and outside the box, exercise good judgment, and solve complex problems. Reflect
Reflect on and layer your learning through assessments, which you may undertake individually, such as quizzes, essays and portfolios, or with your peers through group presentations and projects. Feedback from your instructor will help you to refine your understanding of the subject and its intersections with other subjects.
In an increasingly AI-driven world, AI will be an inseparable part of how you reflect and learn. Use AI tools critically, so that your reflection process strengthens rather than supplants your grasp of the subject.
