Love language and how it works?
The Minor in English Language is your chance to dig into how English is structured and how it is used—across cultures, contexts, and everyday conversations. Drawing on the linguistics side of the BA English Language and Literature programme, this minor helps you sharpen the kind of analytical, communication, and cross-cultural skills that come in handy no matter where you end up—teaching, media, business, public communications, you name it.
Love getting lost in a good story, poem, or play?
The Minor in English Literature is for you. You will explore a range of literary genres, periods, and styles, and pick up the tools to critically analyse texts using key literary concepts and theories. Drawing on the literature side of the BA English Language and Literature programme, this minor builds close-reading, critical-thinking, and interpretive skills that will serve you well far beyond the page.

Second Major in English Language and Literature
The Second Major in English Language and Literature lets you go beyond a single elective or minor, building substantial depth in both the linguistic and literary study of English—from how language is structured and used, to how literature reflects and shapes human experience.
This second major is a great fit if you want to:
- Sharpen the analytical, critical-thinking, and communication skills that complement almost any primary discipline.
- Build genuine expertise in language and literature, not just a passing exposure.
- Open doors to careers and further study in education, publishing, media, communications, and the humanities—alongside your primary discipline.
