Professor David Boud is a Deakin Distinguished Professor and Foundation Director of the Centre for Research in Assessment and Digital Learning (CRADLE) at Deakin University, Australia, and Emeritus Professor at the University of Technology Sydney. Widely recognised as one of the most influential scholars in higher education, he has shaped global thinking on assessment, feedback, evaluative judgement, adult learning, and workplace learning over more than four decades. A pioneer of learning-centred approaches, his work has transformed how universities design learning environments to empower learners, particularly through advances in self-assessment, sustainable assessment, and feedback literacy. He is among the most highly cited researchers in the field, with an h-index exceeding 120, and has served as Editor-in-Chief of Studies in Continuing Education for over 30 years.
