Goh Yah Heng Wendy Caring Fund Practicum Award

The Goh Yah Heng Wendy Caring Fund Practicum Award is made possible through the generosity of an anonymous donor and is established in loving memory of their late sister.

This award supports full-time undergraduate students enrolled in the Bachelor of Social Work programme at the School of Social Work and Social Development. It aims to ease the financial challenges students face during their compulsory practicum placements, enabling them to focus on their learning and professional development.

Eligibility Criteria

• Open to full-time undergraduate students enrolled in the Bachelor of Social Work programme at the School of Social Work and Social Development;
• Applicants must be Singapore Citizens; and
• Priority will be given to students who meet the prevailing MOE Higher Education Bursary or Higher Education Community Bursary criteria; and
• The award tenure will correspond to the duration of the mandatory practicum placement.

The Loi Ooi Toh Fund Practicum Award

The Loi Ooi Toh Fund Practicum Award is made possible through the generosity of an anonymous donor, known only as Mr Lim. Established in memory of his late majie, Miss Loi Ooi Toh, the award honours her lifelong devotion and the quiet contributions of many majie who dedicated their lives to caring for others.

Miss Loi cared for Mr Lim and his brother from early childhood until her retirement, leaving a profound and lasting impact on their lives. This award recognises her selfless service and commemorates a generation of women who made Singapore their home through their unwavering commitment to service and care.

Eligibility Criteria

• Open to full-time undergraduate students enrolled in the Bachelor of Social Work programme at the School of Social Work and Social Development;
• Applicants must be Singapore Citizens; and
• Priority will be given to students who meet the prevailing MOE Higher Education Bursary or Higher Education Community Bursary criteria; and
• The award tenure will correspond to the duration of the mandatory practicum placement.

Yu Lay Choo Practicum Award (commencing in 2027)

The Yu Lay Choo Practicum Award is made possible through the generosity of Mr Sim Hoak Cheok (沈怀祖) in honour of his late mother. He hopes to encourage and motivate social work students at SUSS in their pursuit of making a difference in the community, and that future recipients will, in turn, pay it forward.

Eligibility Criteria

• Open to full-time undergraduate students enrolled in the Bachelor of Social Work programme at the School of Social Work and Social Development;
• Applicants must be Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents;
• Priority will be given to students who meet the prevailing MOE Higher Education Bursary or Higher Education Community Bursary criteria; and
• The award tenure will correspond to the duration of the mandatory practicum placement.

S R Nathan Endowment Fund

The S R Nathan Endowment Fund supports part-time Social Work students during their mandatory practicum, a key component of their professional training. The Fund provides financial support to students during their practicum placements while recognising the meaningful contributions they make to their host organisations.

This support enables students to focus on gaining valuable, hands-on experience and underscores the Fund’s commitment to nurturing future social work professionals and strengthening the social service sector.

Eligibility Criteria

• Open to part-time undergraduate students enrolled in the Bachelor of Social Work programme at the School of Social Work and Social Development;
• Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply; and
• Applicants must meet the prevailing MOE Higher Education Bursary or Higher Education Community Bursary criteria; and
• The award tenure will correspond to the duration of the mandatory practicum placement.

Eurokars Group Endowed Fund

The Eurokars Group Endowed Fund provides financial assistance to financially disadvantaged part-time students in the Bachelor of Social Work programme at the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS).

The award supports students during their compulsory practicum placements by providing stipends to help defray daily living expenses. Through this initiative, Eurokars Group aims to alleviate financial pressures and enable students to focus on their learning and professional development as they prepare to serve the community.
