Synopsis
This course introduces how organisations use information systems and artificial intelligence (AI) to support decision-making, optimise business operations, and facilitate sustainable development. From a managerial perspective, it focuses on how leaders shape organisational structures, business processes, and workflows that can be designed to enable effective collaboration between people and AI systems. Students will gain a conceptual understanding of AI-enabled systems, data, analytics, and digital technology platforms. Discussions and assessments may include the types and strategic roles of commonly used tools, such as cloud computing environments and enterprise AI solutions. The course addresses AI deployment challenges, capability building, intelligent automation, governance, risk management, and socially responsible and valuable AI practices, enabling students to evaluate organisational readiness and the ethical and strategic implications of AI use. By the end of the course, students are expected to align AI technologies with business strategy, implement AI systems effectively, anticipate risks, and make informed managerial decisions.
