Relevance of Course to employment/upskilling/reskilling

This course prepares working adults in Singapore to translate effectively from English into Chinese, a direction of translation widely required in professional, institutional, and commercial contexts. It focuses on techniques specific to English–to-Chinese translation, where differences in syntax, style, and cultural conventions demand careful human judgement beyond automated tools. By analysing authentic English texts, comparing translation strategies, and addressing common errors, learners strengthen their ability to convey meaning accurately and appropriately in Chinese. Intensive practice builds confidence in producing and reviewing translations of moderate difficulty, supporting upskilling and reskilling for roles that require bilingual communication, translation quality assurance, and informed use of AI-assisted translation tools.
