Synopsis
This course offers a broad, interdisciplinary understanding of autism spectrum disorder (ASD), focusing on the diverse ways it presents across individuals and life stages. Students will explore early indicators, communication and sensory profiles, and behavioural characteristics associated with ASD. Emphasis is placed on the impact of autism on daily living, relationships, and participation in community life. The course highlights practical, evidence-informed strategies for providing respectful, person-centred support across care, education, and social service settings.
