Synopsis

MIP501 IP Law in Greater China details how intellectual property (IP) rights are established and protected in the Greater China region, which includes China and Taiwan. Over the past few decades, IP laws in Greater China have evolved into a relatively comprehensive and complicated system. It becomes imperative for those who intend to do business in the Greater China region to take IP rights into account when developing their business and IP strategy. This course introduces the basic framework of patent, trademark and copyright law, analyses the latest administrative and judicial policies for IP protection as well as leading cases and their implications for IP strategy in business. Students will grasp the landscape of IP laws in the Greater China region and their resulting implications for business.
