MIP553 IP & Technology-Driven Innovation is designed to equip students with practical skills and knowledge to explore various approaches to Research & Business Development (R&BD). The course delves into key IP issues within R&BD, the emergence of IP and its influence on R&BD processes, and how to assess invention disclosures with commercial potential. It covers the objectives and benefits of invention disclosures, along with essential considerations for technology assessment to support IP and business strategies.Focusing on the value chain from R&BD to invention disclosure, the course introduces R&BD as a starting point for innovation. Students will explore the core aspects of R&BD and the key factors involved in identifying and generating valuable invention disclosures. Additionally, the course teaches how R&BD supports an organisation’s IP and business strategies, highlighting the synergy between R&BD and invention disclosures.
