Kursus ini merupakan satu kursus pengenalan untuk memahami sistem bahasa Melayu dengan meneliti secara sistematis struktur dan pola utama sistem bunyi, struktur kata dan struktur ayat . Objektif utama kursus ini bertujuan untuk memberi pendedahan dan kefahaman asas kepada pelajar tentang aspek-aspek struktur bahasa Melayu dengan menfokus kepada morfologi, sintaksis dan fonologi.

MLL107 Structure of the Malay Language is highly relevant for individuals seeking to enhance their employability in the fields of education and applied linguistics. This course is tailored for those aiming to become Language School Teachers, Private Tutors, or educators in primary and secondary settings by focusing on providing a grasp of the system of how the Malay Language works including but not limited to morphology, phonology and syntax. The curriculum emphasizes understanding of how the Malay Language works which are crucial skills in today’s job as a teacher or educator. Trainer Information

Dr. Sahri Bin Md Salleh

Dr. Sahri Bin Md Salleh is an Associate Faculty member at the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) and several tertiary institutions in Singapore. He holds a PhD in Malay Language from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and has over three decades of experience in education. His expertise includes Malay linguistics, discourse analysis, language pedagogy, and curriculum design. Dr. Sahri has served as a Curriculum Planning Officer at Singapore’s Ministry of Education (MOE), where he was involved in syllabus development, instructional materials design, and teacher professional development. He has also held leadership roles as Subject Head for Malay Language in secondary schools. At the tertiary level, he lectures in linguistics and Malay language modules, coordinates language electives, supervises pre-service teachers during practicum, and contributes to course and assessment development. His academic interests focus on linguistics, critical discourse analysis, and discourse analysis.
