Synopsis

The course is an introduction to the pedagogical approaches to language acquisition; how human beings gain information of the world and how such information is stored, processed and used. A modern view of how human beings acquire knowledge and how this knowledge is used to direct behaviour, intelligence, problem-solving and decision-making, thinking and thinking skills, implications for learning and teaching in the classroom. In this module, students will be exposed to the application of cognitive psychology in teaching and learning and the various learning theories put forward by behaviourist to explain how behaviour is acquired using principles of conditioning. Ways of motivating various types of pupils in the learning process.

Trainer Information

Dr Zainaba is an experienced Malay Language teacher with strong expertise in curriculum development, teacher professional learning and language pedagogy. She holds a master in Curriculum and Teaching and a PhD in Language and Communication from Sultan Idris Education University (UPSI). Over the past 10 years with Ministro of Education (MOE), she has been actively involved in the development of Malay Language Syllabus and instructional materials, contributing to curriculum strengthening and classroom implementation across schools. She also played a key role in the training and capacity building of teachers, supporting effective teaching strategies and professional growth. She previously served as Asian Languages Head of Department (HOD) at Ministry of Education Language Centre (MOELC) for 3 years, leading initiatives to enhance teaching and learning quality and driving professional development of teachers. Currently, she continues to serve in the education fraternity as a Lead Teacher specialising in Malay Language, dedicated to nurturing students’ language proficiency and character development through effective learning experiences.
