Synopsis
Supply chain management (SCM) forms a vital part of businesses and is crucial to an organisation’s success. Supply chains are unique for different products and services. Supply chains can span across international borders. Supply chains can vary across industries. Supply chains can be complex. SCM101 Supply Chain Foundations introduces learners to the fundamental concepts, strategies, and practices that enable organisations to efficiently manage their supply chains from end to end. The course covers key frameworks such as the SCOR model, explores critical decisions that align supply chain strategies with overall business goals, and examines trade-offs faced in the supply chain. Students will delve into the five main functional areas of SCM: supply chain planning, sourcing and procurement, manufacturing and operations, distribution and logistics, and supply chain enablers. The course examines supply chain risk and performance management as well as emerging trends shaping the future of SCM such as supply chain resilience, digitalisation, and sustainability, to provide learners with the foundational skills needed to succeed in this dynamic field.
