Synopsis

CMM215 Introduction to Disaster Risk and Resilience introduces students to the complex and increasingly important field of disaster management using straightforward, interactive and meaningful content and activities. By highlighting prominent theories and models, this course enables students to critically reflect upon growing challenges faced by actors mitigating, responding to and recovering from natural hazards. Students enrolled in the course also enjoy the opportunity to interact with professionals and community leaders through guided assignments. At the end of the course, students are expected to have gained essential knowledge as well as cognitive and communication skills to navigate in this fascinating and ever-evolving field with renewed confidence.
