Synopsis
This course introduces practitioners to Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), an evidence-based approach for understanding and addressing challenging behaviours in individuals with disabilities. Participants will explore the principles of PBS, including functional behaviour assessment, proactive strategies, and the use of reinforcement to encourage positive behaviour. The course emphasizes creating supportive, inclusive environments that reduce the occurrence of challenging behaviours while promoting skill development, social engagement, and quality of life. Through case studies, practical exercises, and reflective discussions, participants will develop the knowledge and skills to implement PBS effectively across educational, community, and home settings, fostering meaningful and sustainable behaviour change.
