GSS524 Emerging Trends in Global Security examines how artificial intelligence is reshaping the global security as a cross-cutting force that is simultaneously transforming threats, capabilities, geopolitical competition, and governance architecture. Students will engage with the full range of contemporary security challenges through an AI lens, developing both the theoretical understanding and the practical analytical skills to navigate a security environment in which AI is already operational. Key areas of focus include the role of emerging technologies, artificial intelligence, and autonomous systems in security. The course will also cover the impact of geopolitical shifts and the evolving nature of state and non-state actors in global conflicts. By the end of the course, students will gain both a theoretical and practical understanding of the latest security trends and will be prepared to apply these insights to future challenges.
