Course Code: GSS588
Synopsis
GSS588 Global Security and Strategy Applied Project provides students with the opportunity to conduct an applied project on topics related to security and risk management. Students will take on an independent study and develop their ability to organise different tasks with a view to achieving a clearly specified goal. Students will consider the ethical, legal, social, technological, and professional issues relevant to their chosen topic. The final report will require appropriate research, analysis, design, implementation, quality assurance, evaluation, and project management. Students are encouraged to utilise digital and AI-enabled tools responsibly where relevant, with emphasis placed on academic integrity, transparency, critical evaluation of sources, and professional ethics. Students are required to submit a statement disclosing their use of AI as part of every assessed piece of work. This statement must declare which AI tools were used, for what purposes, how AI-generated content was verified and extended through the student's own analysis, and how the student's independent contribution can be identified. This requirement operationalises the responsible and transparent use of AI in research as an assessed graduate skill, consistent with the programme's commitments on AI competency.
