The Master of Psychology (Clinical) is a comprehensive training programme designed to develop Clinical Psychologists with knowledge, research, and practice competencies. With a strong focus on skills training, students will learn to achieve high standards of clinical competence, enhance people skills to work with diverse clients and other professionals, as well as hone their research skills to be scientist-practitioners.
Unique Features of the Programme
- Students will gain critical insights to key considerations when practicing as a Clinical Psychologist within the public healthcare sector and social service sector in Singapore—working in a multi-disciplinary or transdisciplinary team.
- The programme will explore emerging evidence-based and process-based interventions, and the role of technology in delivering mental healthcare.
- The programme is conducted using a blended learning approach, with a mixture of both face-to-face lessons and e-learning, so that you can learn at your own pace.
- The programme structure is designed for students to meet the requirements (e.g., client, supervision and professional activity hours) set forth by the Singapore Psychological Society to register as a Registered Psychologist.

Why Clinical Psychology?
There has been an increased focus and awareness of mental health and its impact on society at large. This has resulted in an increased demand for mental health services, and through the National Mental Health and Well-being Strategy, the Ministry of Health, Singapore, has prioritized a tiered and societal approach to supporting individuals with diverse mental health needs. Clinical Psychologists are professionals with specialized training and skills in assessing, diagnosing and evidence-based interventions. They work in various settings such as hospitals, community-based agencies (e.g., SSAs), schools and government agencies. Clinical Psychologists also work with other professionals through multi-disciplinary or transdisciplinary teams to improve the quality of life and mental health of individuals.
What are the competencies required to be a Clinical Psychologist?
Clinical Psychologists are expected to demonstrate a broad range of competencies that include theoretical knowledge, clinical and research skills, and personal attributes. They should also possess a critical mind to approach interventions using an evidence-based lens, and to have an open and inquisitive mind when exploring diversity and cultural differences. As a Clinical Psychologist, you should also have strong interpersonal and communications skills that are needed for effective communication. Clinical Psychologists are also expected to uphold ethical and professional standards, which include ongoing supervision, professional development, and adoption of local ethical guidelines.
Programme Structure
This is a 2 year full-time programme. To graduate with Master of Psychology (Clinical), students are required to complete 75 credit units (cu) of courses and attain a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.0 (out of 5.0). The programme consists of coursework, practicum and research components, and students must pass and complete all components to graduate from the programme. Note: Students will also need to take 3 compulsory practicums conducted mostly during weekday business hours (PSY503, PSY504, PSY505).

Additional Requirements:
- Psychology or psychology-related degree with Second Upper Honours*
- At least 2 years of full-time (or equivalent) work experience in the field of psychology
*We strongly believe in a holistic review of each application. Tertiary and Pre-tertiary academic merits and non-academic achievements are taken into considerations when reviewing each application and students may be conditionally accepted to the programme upon completion of pre-requisite courses (PRCPSY).
Applicants are also required to furnish the below documents when applying for the programme:

- Personal Statement (1 page document on your interest and reasons for choosing the programme)
- 2 Referee Reports - 1 academic referee and 1 referee supporting your professional/clinical skills (Referees are required to submit the referee reports directly to the Graduate Studies department at [email protected] using the referee report template available here. *Please ensure referee reports are submitted within 2 weeks of application.)
International applicants are welcome, provided they meet the admission criteria and the required IELTS or TOEFL scores if English is not their native language or the medium of instruction in their undergraduate studies:
- TOEFL PBT > 580, with (preferably) a TWE of 5, or
- TOEFL iBT > 85, with a minimum of 22 in writing, or
- IELTS > 6.5, with no sub-score below 6
