About the Programme

The SUSS Startup Incubation Programme is a 30 credit unit bearing incubation programme for startups with a minimum viable product and ready to take their startups to the next level. Through the programme, startups will receive resources, mentorship from industry experts and gain access to local and regional networks. Startups that secure substantial funding or achieve S$250k annual revenue will complete the programme and be awarded a Minor or Certificate in Entrepreneurship.

Admission Eligibility Criteria

Who can apply:

Open to individuals with a working prototype or startup, including:

Full-time and part-time students from the Singapore University of Social Sciences
Members of the public who meet Continuing Education and Training (CET) admission requirements
Incorporated within the last 5 years

Teams may apply with up to 3 members, and at least one member must be a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident.

Assessment Criteria

For business proposal applications:

Uniqueness of business concept
Working prototype
Clear and scalable business model

To receive Certificate/Minor:

Participation in the Cloud Computing Course by Alibaba Cloud
Participation in the Demo Day* organised by SUSS and Alibaba Cloud

* Individuals who want to attain the Certificate/Minor need to be part of the pitch for the Q&A

3. Startups who have earned an annual revenue of SGD250,000 OR secured funding from any one of the following, with proof of funding submitted:

Incubator Programme
Accelerator Programme
Government Grants (includes Startup SG Founder Grant)

Frequently Asked Questions

Neither Alibaba Cloud nor SUSS will take equity of the startups entering the Certificate/Minor in Entrepreneurship.

There is no course fee, however there is a registration fee of SGD60 (without GST) per person. Registration fee is non-refundable.

Your proposal needs to be scalable and have the potential for development beyond Singapore.

Businesses (including social enterprises) that meet pressing societal needs will be preferred.

Yes. You may take the Certificate in Entrepreneurship and receive a minor/certificate if you pass, subjected to approval by your Head of Programme.

Your application will be reviewed and shortlisted teams will be invited to join the entry pitch, where they will share more about their startup. After the pitch, teams that are accepted into the programme will be informed. Instructions will be given via email at each stage of the application process.

The judging panel consists of representatives from Alibaba Cloud and SUSS who are also industry experts.

For a Certificate in Entrepreneurship, the candidature period is 2.5 years. For full-time and part-time students, the candidature period is 2.5 years or upon completion of your degree programme.

Yes. You would have to actively seek potential investors on your own. SUSS can connect you with Angels or VCs if you are ready for investment.

If there is a complete change of the problem statement, you may be required to re-enter the programme with the new idea by participating in the entry pitch again. Do always check with and update your account manager from the SUSS Entrepreneurship Team on such changes as they are assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Yes you can. This incubation programme is to help all startups, even if you have gotten your Startup SG Founder Grant or are in other incubation programmes.

The entry pitch into the programme is a pre-requisite for SUSS to be your AMP. All startups have to enter the programme before recommendation by SUSS for the grant. You are welcome to join the programme even if you are in other programmes.

Yes you can. You are welcomed to join the other programmes to expand your network and gain resources for your startup, as long as you are committed to the requirements of this programme.
