In super-ageing Singapore and countries around the world, co-living with technologies and innovations is the only choice for a better quality of life. We will share the multi-domain perspectives of addressing the challenges and opportunities presented by this new phenomenon.
Speaker’s Biodata

Dr Kelvin Tan is Head of Programme in Applied Ageing Studies in Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS). His expertise in gerontology is recognised in internationally.
He is the President of Society for Gerontechnology and serves as the Technical Advisor in WUWei Medical and Science Research Institute, School Advisory Committee, visiting lecturer, and honorary Research Fellow in various universities. . He was the Advisor to WHO Western Pacific Region for the AMR Innovations Challenge 2023.
His recent research work include Social robots and older persons funded by the Ministry of Education (Singapore) Start-up Research Funding, Social robots for older persons and children with disabilities by Temasek Foundation, and IoT Ring for HRV measure with exercise/Music with National Taiwan Normal University and UBC Canada, VR reminiscence with St Luke’s ElderCare and Music and Movement with Exercise Ball drumming with FaithActs.
He is a volunteer in community project eg ibasho SG in Health District@Queenstown. He has partnered with MIDEA’s CSR programme in Southwest CDC as CSR give-back to the community in 2022/23. As Chingay Creative Advisory Panel member, he has organised the PA-SUSS Chingay Watch Party and community partners since 2021 to engage nursing homes and care centers to celebrate Chinese New Year online. In 2022, SUSS was recognised for its efforts by the People’s Association Community Spirit Award.
Kelvin leads the SUSS-NUNCHI MARINE Age Well Programme, launched in Dec 2022. He holds various advisory roles in One&Co (Japan East Rail), Ageing Asia, People’s Association, GreenSpace+ and Yincubator. He also mentors startups in the field of social enterprise, healthcare, and sustainability.
Prior to SUSS, he was the Director for Corporate Partnerships, Innovation and Entrepreneur Division, in National University of Singapore. His team spearheaded open innovation initiatives with top-tier institutions overseas, corporate accelerators (SIA, Loreal, Mercedes Benz, SMRT, Danone and DSTA) and co-creation partners. Concurrently, he was the Business Development Director in NUS Smart Systems Institute which translates research in AI, Cognitive technology, IoT, Natural Language translation and Data Analytics for commercialisation.
