From Memories to Meaningful Communities: Reimagining Healthy Ageing Through Reminiscence, Culture and Connection

The DBS Foundation X SUSS Asia Reminiscence Forum brings together leaders, practitioners, community organisations, cultural institutions, researchers, older adults, and trained reminiscence facilitators from across Asia to explore how reminiscence and community participation can support healthy ageing and memory health.

Organised annually by the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) as part of the DBS Foundation X SUSS Memory & Cognitive Health Programme, the forum provides a platform to share emerging evidence, foster regional collaboration, and strengthen partnerships for more inclusive and connected communities.

Join us online for the DBS Foundation X SUSS Asia Reminiscence Forum 2026 on 4 August 2026, from 2.30pm to 4.30pm.

Ms Karen Ngui, Head of DBS Foundation, will deliver the welcome address. The programme will feature the launch of a new community reminiscence resource, followed by an address by Guest of Honour Mr Tan Kiat How, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Digital Development and Information & Ministry of Health, Republic of Singapore.

Keynote speakers will share research insights and regional perspectives on reminiscence, healthy ageing and social connection:

• Associate Professor Carol Ma, Head of Gerontology Programmes, Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS)
• Professor Du Peng, Dean of the School of Population and Health and Director of the Institute of Gerontology, Renmin University of China
• Ms April Siwon Lee, Technical Officer (Healthy Ageing), World Health Organization Regional Office for the Western Pacific

The keynote presentations will be followed by a Q&A moderated by Dr Jennifer Lee, Chairman of the Gerontology Programme Advisory Committee at SUSS.

The livestream will be relevant to community and healthcare practitioners, caregivers, volunteers, researchers and the wider public. Viewers will gain practical ideas on how reminiscence and social connection can support healthy ageing across active ageing and care settings, community programmes, and in everyday family life.
