Get Your Own Wings & Plant Your Own Tree in Your Mind
What does it mean to continue learning, growing, and contributing throughout our lives?
As life expectancy rises and technology reshapes the way we live, lifelong learning, meaningful relationships and social participation are becoming increasingly important in helping us age with purpose and fulfilment.
Join us for the second edition of the On Being Human series, where we explore how curiosity, connection and resilience can empower individuals to thrive at every stage of life.
This session features two distinguished guests from Japan: Ms Masako Wakamiya, an internationally recognised advocate for active ageing who gained global attention after developing a smartphone game for older adults in her 80s, and Professor Katsuya Iijima from the University of Tokyo, a leading researcher in healthy ageing and community well-being.
Through personal stories and research-based insights, the speakers will challenge common assumptions about ageing and share perspectives on creating meaningful lives through continuous learning, social engagement, and embracing new technologies.
Key Takeaway:
Participants will gain insights into:
Lifelong Learning: Why it is never too late to acquire new skills, pursue new interests and embrace lifelong growth.
Meaningful Connections: How communities and social relationships contribute to well-being and a sense of purpose.
Technology for Every Generation: The role of technology in empowering older adults and fostering greater inclusion and participation.
