The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on mental health is a growing concern. It impacts our thoughts, behaviours and emotions. To help people cope with the stress brought about by the COVID-19 crisis, Dr Emily Ortega, Head of the Psychology programme at the SUSS School of Humanities & Behavioural Sciences (SHBS), answered the call by the Singapore Psychological Society (SPS) to offer complimentary therapy.

Dr Oretga shared: “As a sports psychologist, I work with athletes, and one of the biggest things they face is learning to cope with anxiety, and how to manage an uncertain situation. There are some parallels with the current situation here that allow me to help people affected by it."
To date, Dr Ortega has received more than 10 requests for assistance and she takes this as a service to the nation.
