SPM-SUSS Professional Talk Series

The School of Science and Technology at the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) hosted another SPM-SUSS Professional Talk Series on 17 August 2017, which focused on the major revamp of the Singapore Institute of Architects (SIA) Conditions of Contracts, a common and frequently used form of contracts in the Singapore building and construction industry. Two prominent legal professionals, Mr Christopher Chuah of Wong Partnership LLP and Mr Anil Changaroth of ChangAroth Chambers LLC, who were involved in the drafting of the new SIA contract explained some key changes in the revision and its impact. 

Mr Chuah focused on aspects of the SIA Building Contract 2016, Sub Contract 2016 and Building Contract 2016, while Mr Changaroth covered its international version, including comparing it with other commonly used international contracts. The insightful presentation, as well as an engaging question-and-answer session captivated and inspired many of the 80 attendees comprising industry professionals, SUSS staff, associates and alumni. The event was also broadcasted live via Collaborate in the Canvas learning management system so that our Building and Project Management, and Events and Facilities Management students are able to learn and benefit from this industry update. The recorded presentations in the system will also serve as a useful reference material for the students in the future.
