SUSS Students Shine at WIMUN New York 2025: Diplomacy in Action

The iconic halls of the United Nations Headquarters in New York City recently hosted a trio of exceptional SUSS students. Nichole Seah, Ong Yew Hwee, and Maria Zahid had the distinct honour of representing Singapore and the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) at the World Federation of United Nations Associations International Model United Nations (WIMUN) New York 2025. From February 3rd to 6th, they joined delegates from around the globe in a powerful display of diplomatic engagement, insightful debate, and the forging of lasting international friendships.

In their respective committees, our students demonstrated remarkable diplomatic acumen and critical thinking, articulating national stances on some of the world's most pressing global issues.

Nichole Seah
Nichole Seah, Head Delegate and Chairperson of the Current Affairs Interest Group (CAIG), shared her experience: 'Leading the team at WIMUN NY 2025 was a truly enriching privilege. Engaging and collaborating with peers from diverse backgrounds through constructive debates and consensus-building reinforced the importance of negotiation and diplomacy in international relations. We learned to embrace diversity and work towards a future where diplomacy drives positive global change.

A special congratulations is for Maria Zahid, who represented Panama in the United Nations Environment Assembly 1. Her exceptional diplomatic skills and compelling debate performance were recognized with the prestigious Diplomacy Award, a testament to her dedication and talent.
All three students serve as Executive Committee members of SUSS's Current Affairs Interest Group (CAIG) and are passionate about sharing their experiences to inspire future participants. They hope to encourage more students to seize this enriching opportunity and develop their own diplomatic skills.
