The 13th Singapore Chinese Film Festival (SCFF2025), co-organised by Singapore University of Social Sciences and the Singapore Film Society, kicked off on April 25 and concluded successfully on May 4.

The opening night was graced by over 200 invited guests, including SUSS colleagues as well as personnel from the education, film, business and cultural sectors. The festival opened with the screening of Daughter’s Daughter, a feature film by Taiwanese director Huang Xi and starring acclaimed actress Sylvia Chang. The opening film, which won the Best Original Screenplay award at the 61st Golden Horse Awards, tells a story of how a mother deals with the loss of her daughter and reevaluates her past.

The 10-day festival attracted over 3,800 attendees, with tickets sold out for 8 sessions. Due to overwhelming response, extra screenings were added for From Island to Island, Daughter’s Daughter and The Way We Talk. 12 filmmakers were invited for post-screening discussions with the audience.

One of the highlights of the festival was the festival forum A “Bookshop” Talk held on 30 April featuring Hou Chi-Jan, director of Poetries from the Bookstore: Season 3. Director Hou and Dr. Lim Wooi Tee, the co-owner of Grassroots Book Room, shared stories about bookstores, readers, and the making of the docuseries.

由新加坡社科大学与新加坡电影协会联办的第13届新加坡华语电影节于4月25日拉开序幕,并于5月4日圆满落幕。

电影节以台湾导演黄熙的剧情长片《女儿的女儿》作为开幕片,邀请了来自本地教育界、电影业、文化、商业及表演艺术等领域的嘉宾参与放映会。由张艾嘉主演的《女儿的女儿》获得第61届金马奖最佳原著剧本,讲述一位母亲在女儿去世后,重新审视自己的过往。

为期10天的电影节,观影及活动出席者共达3,800人次,其中8个场次的门票更是一扫而空。由于反应热烈,剧情长片《女儿的女儿》与《看我今天怎么说》,还有纪录片《由岛至岛》个别加映一场。电影节邀请了12位来自国内外的电影人出席,与观众进行近距离交流。

4月30日进行的电影节论坛 “在书店聊书店:与侯季然导演对话” ,邀请了台湾导演侯季然与新加坡草根书室董事林韦地进行对谈。除了分享《书店里的影像诗》系列的拍摄初衷与心得,两人也畅谈开设书店的情怀与挑战。

第13届新加坡华语电影节能够成功举行,有赖于各方的鼎力支持,包括中华语言文化基金、驻新加坡台北代表处、台北工商协会、丰隆基金、指定场地伙伴嘉华院线、指定宣传媒体《联合早报》、节目伙伴以及学校/呈现伙伴。希望观众、粉丝、电影人和媒体在来年继续支持新加坡华语电影节。
