Good vibes filled the air of Orchard Road during the 11th Voice Of My Generation (VOMG) Block Party outside Wisma Atria. The event, a celebration of musical diversity and talent, featured an array of performances from secondary and tertiary institution bands, including the homegrown musicians of SUSS’ Music Interest Group (MIG).

SUSS’ very own student bands, The Yappers! and Woodlands Windmill, claimed the spotlight with their flair and virtuosity that evening. They captured the hearts of over 100 passers-by, many of whom stopped to clap, sing, and jive along to the students' acoustic rendition of well-known pop and indie hits.

This street performance was the first taste of live performance for some of the MIG members, signifying their first step into the performing arts undergoing the guidance and mentorship of the senior members.

The Yappers!, one of MIG's newly-formed bands, got to know each other through the block party and grew closer through their shared passion of music. Their lead vocalist and SUSS Year 3 Communications student, Nur Syahada Binte Bachik, commented, "Not going to lie, it was initially pretty nerve-wracking as I hadn't sung in public in so long. But after the first song, the nerves wore off as we had an audience and they were very supportive!".

Despite their experience, the senior members in Woodlands Windmill used this opportunity to step out of their comfort zone and expand their skill set. Tunay Joseph Brian Bulos, a SUSS Year 2 Psychology student, shared, "We are all instrumentalists, but we wanted to challenge ourselves by picking up the microphone and singing. It was a humbling but fruitful experience, having to undergo the trials of learning something new.  I'm proud to say that our efforts and discipline was worth it after seeing people clap and sing along!"

The VOMG Block Party was more than just a night of great music – it was a platform for growth, connection, and celebration. For SUSS MIG, it marked a memorable milestone in their musical journey, where passion met courage and camaraderie. As the final notes echoed through Orchard Road, the performers walked away not only with applause but with newfound confidence and unforgettable memories.
