On 2 August 2025, the SUSS Alumni Relations team turned up the energy at Heartbeat@Bedok with an unforgettable performance at the Kampong Chai Chee SG60 celebration.

Led by the Drums-Up for Active Ageing programme, 60 seniors from various Active Ageing Centres and SUSS alumni from the Age Well Alumni Network (AWAN) took over levels One and Two to fill the space with rhythm, unity, and celebration.

Grooving to familiar favourites like APT, Stand Up for Singapore, and Not Alone, the performers (the oldest being 88 years young) brought joy and inspiration to the crowd. Collectively, their ages added up to 4,024, a meaningful tribute to SG60, celebrating the intergenerational spirit that marks our nation’s 60th birthday.

Founded in 2023, the Drums-Up for Active Ageing programme blends rhythm, movement, and fun to promote physical agility, cognitive capacities, and social bonding among seniors. Backed by research from SUSS SR Nathan School of Human Development’s Minor in Applied Ageing Studies, SUSS-Nunchi Marine Age Well Program and National Cheng Kung University (Taiwan) (SUSS-NCKU drumming), the initiative now reaches 38 Active Ageing Centres island-wide and is continuing to grow.

As SUSS champions lifelong learning and social good, we would like to invite more community clubs and partners to bring this meaningful programme to their neighbourhoods.
