The SUSS Outdoor Adventure Interest Group (ODAIG) recently organised a meaningful 2-day camp for children aged 10 to 13, planned in collaboration with the Singapore Red Cross Young Hearts Programme. This initiative provided a safe, supportive, and adventurous space where young participants could develop confidence, resilience, and teamwork through engaging activities.

Over the two days, the children participated in icebreakers and team-building games, and they took on the exciting challenge of rock climbing at Outpost Climbing Gym. With guidance from 13 passionate volunteers, the children were encouraged to step beyond their comfort zones, overcome fears, and cheer each other on.

G Aravinthan, a Finance alumnus, shared, “I volunteered for this initiative because I believe in the power of climbing and board games to build confidence, resilience, and joy.” He hoped to “create a safe, encouraging space for the kids to explore something new and have fun.” A memorable moment was seeing “a young participant beam with pride after conquering a bouldering wall they initially feared.” He also praised the ODAIG community’s supportive and caring spirit throughout the event.
