On 8 August 2025, we proudly hosted our first-ever First Year Assembly (FYA), held alongside the National Day Observance Ceremony. This inaugural event welcomed the freshmen cohort of 2025 with inspiring speeches, meaningful traditions, and captivating performances that set the tone for the journey ahead.

Our Academic Procession is taking the stage to open the First Year Assembly officially.

The Assembly opened with welcome addresses by our President, Professor Tan Tai Yong, and Provost, Professor Robbie Goh. Their words encouraged students to embrace opportunities with courage, uphold the values of integrity and respect, and contribute positively to the wider community.

A defining moment came during the Pinning and Pledge Ceremony. Freshmen each received their SUSS Pin, symbolising their official entry into our family and their commitment to learning and growth. With hands placed over their hearts, they then recited the SUSS Student Pledge together, affirming values of excellence, responsibility and respect as they embark on their academic journey.

A proud moment as our freshmen put on their SUSS Pin for the very first time.

Student leadership also took centre stage, as Danyal (Chairperson of 1SUSS) and Sherwin (Chairperson of STARS) shared about student advocacy and peer support. Their experiences reflected the vibrant student life awaiting the incoming cohort and the strong spirit of community at SUSS.

The afternoon concluded with a reimagining of the Legend of Redhill, performed by Soulstice (Dance Interest Group), Silat (Competition Group) and Philharmonic (Music Interest Group). Through music, movement and storytelling, the performance highlighted the importance of unity and collaboration, leaving everyone inspired to Dream, Dare, Do with us at SUSS.
