The 9th Singapore Early Childhood Education Chinese Symposium, themed “SG60: Local Culture, Creativity, and Early Childhood Education” drew an audience of 193participants.第九届新加坡学前教育论坛吸引193位出席者,一同探讨六十年文化沉淀与创意交流携手学前教育成长之路

 

The 9th Singapore Early Childhood Education Chinese Symposium, themed “SG60: Local Culture, Creativity, and Early Childhood Education” and jointly run by Centre for Chinese Studies and S R Nathan School of Human Development took place at the Lifelong Learning Institute on 27 September 2025 and drew an audience of 193 participants.

 

Associate Professor Calvin Chan, Assistant Provost (Curricular and Student Matters) at SUSS, reflected on Singapore’s 60-year journey of independence.  He highlighted how our multicultural society fosters creativity and helps children thrive, crediting the nation’s success to the strong patriotism of its people.

Associate Professor Calvin Chan, Assistant Provost (Curricular and Student Matters) of SUSS encouraged early childhood educators to actively explore how to integrate Singapore’s local culture and traditional wisdom into early childhood education. 新加坡社科大学助理副校长陈明礼副教授鼓励学前教育工作者积极思考如何新加坡的本土文化与传统智慧融入幼儿教育。

 

Focusing on “local culture” and “creativity”, this symposium explores how local cultural elements and conventional wisdom can be incorporated into early childhood education to spark children’s imagination and curiosity. Our six keynote speakers shared their creative process and discussed how picture books can be integrated into modern pedagogy to help children learn languages and forge a cultural identity.

Using Kampong Time as an example, Mr Francis Wong Hooei Wai illustrated how lively story-telling and imaginative games can effectively engage children 虎威先生以导读自身作品《宁宁游甘榜》的经验为例,展示如何结合绘本故事与创意教学。

Dr Cheng Wan-Ni, Head of the Early Childhood Education Department and Senior Lecturer at Singapore Centre for Chinese Languageelucidated her insightful vision and practice of Singapore Early Childhood Chinese Education through local picture books.新加坡教研中心学前部主任郑婉妮博士以风趣明朗的语调,与大家交流她对于本地绘本和新加坡学前华文教育的想象与实践

Mr Jia Liming Founder of My Bright Education Centre cum Author, drawing from personal journey, talked confidently on his children picture book creation and teaching method has fostered children’s reading development. 明辉教育中心协办人、作家贾立明先生从个人经验出发,探讨家庭故事·如何成为创作灵感,并分享如何通过绘本创作和教学促进孩子阅读成长。

As the forum wrapped up, Associate Professor Sin Joo Eei reflected on our educational roots, tackled today’s challenges, shared innovative practices, and offered an inspiring vision for a future of integration and innovation.在论坛结束前,陈如意副教授带领我们回顾历史的源流,直面当代的挑战,分享教育者与创作者创新的实践,并共同展望融合与创新的未来,带来了鼓舞人心的总结。

 

届新加坡学前教育论坛圆满结束

 

由新加坡社科大学(简称“新社科大”)中华学术中心和纳丹人力发展学院联合举办的第九届新加坡学前教育论坛,以“六十年文化沉淀与创意交流携手学前教育成长之路”为主题,于2025年9月27日在终身学习学院圆满结束,吸引了193名与会者。

新社科大助理副校长陈明礼副教授在致欢迎词时强调,新加坡这个小红点走过60年,能够持续焕发活力,靠的是国人的本土关怀和爱国精神。要让儿童了解新加坡的发展变化和多元文化,形成国家认同,图文并茂的儿童文学作品是一种很好的教材。

本届论坛特邀本地知名学者与作家参与主讲,包括虎威先生、郑婉妮博士、陈如意副教授、贾立明先生、陈帅女士与徐海娜女士,一同探讨如何将绘本故事与现代教学相结合,让孩子们在故事中不仅学到语言,还能建立文化认同感。活动设置主题演讲、分会场研讨、作家对话环节,并设有绘本故事书展示区。现场交流气氛热烈,主讲嘉宾妙语如珠, 会场笑声不断, 洋溢着积极的学术交流氛围。
