SUSS welcomed the Year of the Horse with over 4,000 seniors, caregivers, and family members during the recent annual Chinese New Year festivities with our community partners.

On 27 February 2026, we hosted the SUSS-PA Chingay Watch Party, organised by SUSS’s Minor in Applied Ageing Studies with sponsorship from the SUSS–Nunchi Marine Age Well Programme.

Participants included St Andrew’s Nursing Home, St Luke’s ElderCare, Thye Hua Kwan Nursing Home, Kwang Huai Shiu Hospital, PCF Sparklecare, Adventist Home for the Elders, Lions Home for the Elders, NTUC Health, and Vanguard Healthcare. The activities featured tossing yusheng, swinging light sticks, and donating calligraphy pieces.

The online audience was entertained by live coverage of the Chingay Parade, featuring the SUSS Chingay contingent led by Associate Professor Kelvin Tan. Joining him were SUSS alumni, students, and community representatives.
Before the Chingay Parade broadcast, we have performances from the vibrant Lion Dance of Nanyang Girls’ High School, energetic exercise ball drumming by National Cheng Kung University, songs by Explorer Junior, and a storytelling segment presented by REPRINTS, TMIG Japan.
Gracing the event were Mr Ang Wei Neng, Vice-Chairman of the West Coast Town Council, and MP for West Coast GRC (Nanyang). A/Prof Sirene Lim, Dean of SR Nathan School of Human Development (NSHD), SUSS and Ms Tan Swee Leng, Director of Arts and Culture, PA.

Residents also received mandarin oranges and ever-popular chocolate coins sponsored by the SUSS-Nunchi Marine Age Well Programme.
