Synopsis

BUS353 Project Management will provide both theoretical and practical insights on Project Management with the objective of providing a solid foundation for students to be knowledgeable on the subject, and become effective project team members and potentially project managers. This course covers topics such as request for proposal, proposal submission, risk assessment, project scheduling, resource allocation, cost estimation and budgeting. The roles and responsibilities of the project manager, project team and organization structures will also be covered.

Requirements

  • Applicants should hold a diploma or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.

About the Trainers

Dr Clarence Ng completed his doctoral studies at the University of South Australia in 2010, specialising in technology acceptance and consumer behaviour. He also holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Adelaide.

He brings over 20 years of experience in higher education, having taught at institutions such as the Nanyang Technological University and the Singapore Institute of Management. Dr Ng is accredited by the Institute for Adult Learning as a Senior Professional Adult Educator.

Dr Ng joined the Singapore University of Social Sciences in 2011 as an Associate Faculty member. He currently serves as Course Leader for Operations Analytics and Project Management, and has previously led courses in Business Excellence and Total Quality Management.

Prior to entering academia, Dr Ng founded and managed several start-ups across diverse sectors, including public relations, retail, and the food and beverage industry. His industry experience informs his applied, practice-oriented approach to teaching.

A written request for a refund must be submitted and is subject to approval. If written notice of withdrawal is given within the cooling off period1 and before the course start date, a full refund of the fees paid less an administrative charge of $110.00 (exclusive of GST) will be given. No refund will be given for withdrawal thereafter.

1The cooling off period is defined as 7 working days after payment of course fee.


Completion Requirement

  • Attendance: Participants must achieve at least 75% attendance.
  • Assessment: Participants must sit and pass all prescribed assessments and submit all course work stipulated in the section Assessments.
  • Evaluation: Participants are required to complete course evaluations conducted by SUSS and SSG at the end of the training.
Students who achieve at least 75% attendance and meet the course completion requirements will be awarded a Certificate of Completion. For those who do not meet the course requirements, a Certificate of Participation will be issued instead.
