Financial markets facilitate the transfer of resources in a complex system comprising individuals and institutions. Problems related to the transfer of resources give rise to financial instruments. Recent developments in the financial markets due to information technology and the internet have given rise to virtual markets, institutions and instruments. FIN306 Financial Markets provides a basic understanding of the significance of financial markets in a world of digital economy and shifting global concerns.

Trainer info

Mr. Lawrence Yong is a finance professional, entrepreneur, and educator with extensive experience across financial markets, banking, and fintech. He has worked on both the buy-side and sell-side of banking, with deep involvement in global markets, investment product structuring, pricing, and risk management. His career spans leadership roles in capital markets and private banking, as well as founding and scaling fintech ventures in payments, SME financing, and digital financial services. He brings a strong practitioner’s perspective to financial markets education, bridging theory with real-world market practice.

 

Course Completion requirements

  • Attendance: Participants must achieve at least 75% attendance.
  • Assessment: Participants must sit and pass all prescribed assessments and submit all course work stipulated in the section Assessments.
  • Evaluation: Participants are required to complete course evaluations conducted by SUSS and SSG at the end of the training.
Students who achieve at least 75% attendance and meet the course completion requirements will be awarded a Certificate of Completion. For those who do not meet the course requirements, a Certificate of Participation will be issued instead.

A written request for a refund must be submitted and is subject to approval.

If written notice of withdrawal is given within the cooling off period1 and before the course start date, a full refund of the fees paid less an administrative charge of $110.00 (exclusive of GST) will be given.

No refund will be given for withdrawal thereafter.

1 The cooling off period is defined as 7 working days after payment of course fee.
