Synopsis

This course introduces students to the essential principles and best practices of project management as applied in today’s fast-changing world. Using the latest PMBOK v8 framework, students will learn to manage projects across lifecycles, from defining objectives and engaging stakeholders to closing out with value delivered. Emphasis is placed on foundational principles, team empowerment, agile and hybrid approaches, and the use of digital tools. Topics include work breakdown structures, project planning, risk and resource management, performance measurement, and effective leadership. The course explores agile basics, tailoring strategies, and sustainability in projects, preparing students to succeed in diverse environments. Real-world cases and collaborative activities help students build relevant skills to lead high-performing projects both virtually and in person.

Trainer Info

Mr Willie Chan is an accomplished business leader and educator with over 20 years of experience in product management, global strategy, and Smart City solutions. He is the Managing Director of Wellaholic, an award-winning aesthetics brand, and has held senior roles at NCS and Schneider Electric, driving multi-million-dollar projects across APAC and EMEA. Willie is PMP® and Scrum Master certified and also serves as an Adjunct Faculty at SUSS, specializing in Project and Operations Management.

Mr Vivekk Sehgal is a seasoned Corporate Real Estate and Workplace Strategy professional with over two decades of experience delivering complex projects across APAC for leading organizations. He holds a Master’s in Construction Project Management from UNSW, a Graduate Certificate in Property Development, and is PMP® certified, along with credentials as a LEED Green Associate. Vivekk has led strategic workplace transformations, managed multi-million-dollar capital projects, and currently serves as Vice President for Program Governance at Deutsche Bank.

Mr Stephen Low is an experienced educator and engineer with over 45 years of teaching and industry experience in electronics, telecommunications, and aerospace systems. He holds an MSc in Electronic Systems Engineering and a BSc (Hons) in Telecommunications from the University of Essex, UK, and has served as full-time and associate faculty at SUSS since 2001, specializing in engineering, project management, and technology innovation. Stephen has contributed extensively to programme development, accreditation, and research, securing over $350,000 in funding and publishing in areas such as assistive technology and advanced teaching methodologies.

Mr Alvin Chan is an experienced aviation and engineering professional with over 20 years in the Republic of Singapore Air Force and 15 years of teaching at universities and polytechnics. He holds a Master’s in Industrial Systems Engineering (Project Management) and a Bachelor of Technology (Honours) in Electronics Engineering from NUS, and is certified as an ISO9001 Lead Auditor, ISO45001 Lead Auditor, and Lean Six Sigma Green Belt. Alvin specializes in aviation safety, quality management, human factors, and project management, and has extensive experience as a trainer, assessor, and guest speaker in both academic and industry settings.

Dr Chan Yon Sin is a lecturer at SUSS with a PhD from Monash University and a First-Class Honours BSc from the University of Malaya. With a background as a Mechanical & Electrical Engineer and BIM Coordinator on large construction projects at IJM, he brings strong applied project management skills. Dr Chan is a registered Graduate Engineer with the Board of Engineers Malaysia and has research experience as a NUS Biomedical Engineering Fellow.

Mr Terence Lui is a seasoned project management professional with extensive experience in digital transformation, web marketing, and e-commerce projects across global and regional markets. He holds a Master’s in Business (Information Technology) from Curtin University and a Bachelor of Business Administration from NUS, and is certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP®). Terence has led major initiatives in banking, asset management, and public sector digital platforms, and also serves as an instructor in project management for working professionals.

Mr Yap Tiem Yew is a highly accomplished civil engineer and project management expert with over four decades of experience in infrastructure development, building safety, and national projects. He holds Master’s degrees in Civil Engineering and Business Administration, is a Registered Professional Engineer (Singapore), a former Chartered Engineer (UK & Australia), and a certified Project Management Professional (PMP®). Yap previously served as Group Director at HDB, leading large-scale projects and teams, and currently lectures on Construction and Project Management at SUSS.

Dr Tan Jiak Kwang is an accomplished aerospace and mechanical engineering expert with over 40 years of experience in defense technology, aeronautics, and unmanned systems. He holds a PhD in Aeronautics & Astronautics from Purdue University, along with B.Eng (First Class Honours) and M.Eng degrees from NUS, and is a Chartered Engineer and Senior Member of the Institution of Engineers Singapore. In addition to his technical leadership roles at ST Aerospace, A*STAR, and DSO, Dr Tan has extensive experience in managing complex engineering projects and currently lectures on project management and engineering at SUSS and other institutions.

Dr Jenson Goh is an accomplished senior leader and educator with over 25 years of experience in digital transformation, systems thinking, and organizational development across global industries. He holds a PhD in Information Systems from NUS, a Master’s and Bachelor’s in Computer Science, and is certified as an ICF Professional Certified Coach, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, and Singapore Computer Society’s Certified IT Project Manager (CITPM). Dr Goh has led large-scale IT and business transformation projects as Chief Information & Learning Officer for a multinational corporation and currently teaches project management and systems thinking at leading universities.

Dr Sarita Singh is an accomplished academic and IT professional with expertise in cybersecurity, software engineering, and education technology, combined with strong project management experience. She holds a PhD in Computer Science (IT Security), an M.Tech in Software Engineering from NUS, and an M.E. in Microprocessor Systems, and is an EC-Council Certified Security Specialist. Dr Sarita has taught and supervised project management courses at leading institutions including NUS ISS, SUSS, and SIM Global Education, and has delivered corporate training in areas such as cybersecurity, blockchain, machine learning, and IT project management.

Mr Raymond Lo is a leadership coach, educator, and former senior executive with over 30 years of international experience in professional services, private equity, and business management across Asia and the US. He holds a Master of Management in Professional Life Coaching from SUSS and a Bachelor of Science with Distinction in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University, and is an Associate Certified Coach (ICF) and Certified Career Practitioner. Raymond specializes in leadership development, strategic planning, and project management, and currently teaches and mentors at SUSS, leveraging his extensive experience in business transformation and operational excellence.

Ar. Yip Kim Seng is a seasoned professional with nearly 40 years of experience in the built environment industry,  specializing in architecture and project management for large-scale public and private sector developments. He holds a Bachelor of Architecture (First Class Honours) from the University of Adelaide and an MSc in Property & Maintenance Management from NUS, and is a Registered Architect and Fellow of the Society of Project Managers. A former Managing Director of PM Link and Project Director for iconic projects like Changi Airport Terminal 4 and Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, he is also trained in Value Management facilitation and actively contributes to global project management standards.


Course Completion requirements

  • Participants are required to achieve at least 75% attendance and pass any prescribed examinations/assessments or submit any course/project work (if any) under the course requirement.
  • Participants are required to complete all surveys and feedbacks related to the course.
