Synopsis

China's organisations have navigated one of the most rapid and far-reaching transformations in modern management history. This has fundamentally altered how they lead, develop and retain people in an environment of accelerating technological change and shifting workforce expectations. Drawing on decades of research on leadership effectiveness, strategic human resource management and organisational behaviour in Chinese enterprises, Professor James Jianmin Sun examines what this experience reveals about the relationship between people management and organisational resilience. His presentation will explore the leadership practices and HR strategies that have proven most effective in Chinese organisations, and what leaders and policymakers in Singapore and the region can draw from that experience as they navigate their own workforce challenges.
