SUSS Professional Certificate in Stakeholder Engagement
The Professional Certificate in Stakeholder Engagement is designed to strengthen the capabilities of professionals who work across community, corporate, nonprofit, and social impact settings, enabling them to build meaningful partnerships, manage stakeholder relationships effectively, and create long-term shared value. Co-developed by the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) and industry practitioners, the programme equips learners with practical frameworks, tools, and strategies to navigate increasingly complex stakeholder environments and drive sustainable impact.
The programme provides a strong foundation in stakeholder engagement by helping participants understand how to identify, analyse, and engage diverse stakeholders with clarity and purpose. Learners will develop practical skills in stakeholder mapping, relationship-building, communication planning, and expectation management, enabling them to foster trust, strengthen collaboration, and align stakeholder interests with organisational goals.
Building on this foundation, the programme explores how stakeholder engagement supports broader organisational and societal outcomes through corporate social innovation and citizenship. Participants will examine how organisations can develop meaningful social impact strategies, set relevant performance goals, and work with stakeholders to co-create initiatives that contribute to long-term social change. The curriculum also highlights the importance of forming strategic partnerships that balance organisational priorities with community needs.
A further emphasis of the programme is on applying a skills-based framework to design value-creating pathways for organisations, employees, and volunteers. Participants will learn how to develop sustainable nonprofit-corporate partnerships, align capabilities with stakeholder needs, and establish performance measures that support continuous improvement and long-term collaboration. This allows learners to move beyond engagement as a communication function and towards engagement as a strategic driver of mutual value creation.
Throughout the programme, participants will benefit from a blend of theory, practical tools, case discussions, and applied group-based learning. Upon completion, participants will have gained a comprehensive understanding of stakeholder engagement, partnership development, and value creation strategies, equipping them to lead stakeholder efforts with greater confidence, purpose, and impact.
The programme consists of three courses currently offered to the public. Participants are required to successfully complete all courses within three years of starting their first course.
