What’s New in 2026

Fireside Chats

This year, we are hosting two fireside chats:

Fostering Early Childhood Practitioner Inquiry: Educator, Leader, and Mentor Perspectives

Join us as we explore how practitioner inquiry serves as a catalyst for professional growth and sector-wide learning in early childhood education. Through diverse perspectives — from classroom educators to sector leaders — the session highlights how inquiry-based approaches support professional practices and build collaborative cultures and strengthen the ECE ecosystem.

Fireside Chat with PECERA Student Members

Come and meet the editors of the PECERA journal - Asia Pacific Journal of Research in Early Childhood Education (APJRECE) - to learn more about the association, its journal and academic publishing. This session is our way of getting to know you and letting you get to know more about the organisation and its mission within the region.

Roundtables

Roundtables will also be introduced as another presentation format, alongside posters and oral presentations. These presentations facilitate in-depth, interactive discussions that promote knowledge sharing, networking and collaboration in a more intimate, conversational setting. You may submit your abstract as a roundtable presentation under Call for Abstracts.

Preschool Visits

6 preschools in Singapore have opened their doors and hearts, welcoming us into their learning and development spaces. These visits will offer a special insight into the Singaporean early childhood care and education system.

Please note that there are limited spaces for preschool visits, and we encourage you to register early.

Research Writing Workshops

Publishing in APJRECE

This workshop is designed to support early childhood education researchers who are non-native users of the English language and are preparing to submit manuscripts to English-medium academic journals, with a particular focus on the Asia Pacific Journal of Research in Early Childhood Education (APJRECE) — PECERA's open-access journal.

Participants will be guided through key aspects of the manuscript preparation and submission process, including structuring a research paper in line with journal expectations, writing clearly and effectively in academic English, and responding constructively to reviewer comments. The session will draw on practical examples and allow time for small-group discussion, making it accessible and interactive for participants at varying stages of their publishing journey.

This workshop is especially suited to researchers who are new to publishing in international journals and are looking for concrete guidance to help them navigate the submission process with greater confidence. It will be conducted by Professor Hiromi Tsuji.

Expanding the Reach and Influence of Early Childhood Scholarship for a Global Audience

This interactive session is designed for experienced scholars to engage in dialogue about how the PECERA community can work collaboratively to expand the visibility, accessibility, and influence of early childhood education scholarship across global contexts. The session will focus on strategies for helping research reach broader audiences beyond traditional academic readership, including policymakers, practitioners, teacher educators, families, and international research communities. Participants will discuss evolving trends in scholarly dissemination, such as open access publishing, open science, social media engagement, public scholarship, and international research collaborations, while collectively considering how PECERA scholars can strengthen the global presence and practical impact of their work. This session will be conducted by Professor Sohyu Meacham.

Welcome Performance

OneHeartBeat is a Singapore-based company that facilitates community and team-building drum circles. The program brings people together through the universal language of rhythm to build connection, unity, and joy. They will be collaborating with MINDS Singapore, a social service agency serving persons with intellectual disability, caregivers & their families across life stages, with a focus on empowerment and championing inclusivity.

Together, they will be engaging us in an interactive rhythm - centric performance.
