Overview

The Graduate Certificate in Facilities Management (GCFMT) is an industry collaborative programme that is aligned with the Industry Transformation Map (ITM) and the SkillsFuture Framework for the Built Environment. The graduate programme will be the first in Singapore that focuses on both the managerial (project, risk, finance, asset and facility) and the technical (sustainability, design for manufacturing and assembly (DfMA), productivity and integrated digital delivery (IDD) aspects of the Built Environment sector. The programme aims to equip FM graduates and practitioners with new skills and competencies to manage complex and large-scale building assets in a sustainable and resilient manner.

Students from the Graduate Certificate in Facilities Management (GCFMT) can proceed to take the Graduate Diploma in Facilities Management (GDFMT). Once students completed the GDFMT, they may choose to proceed to either the Master Master of Management (MMGT-FM) or Master of Built Environment (MBE-SPE).

Career Prospects

Graduates from the GCFMT programme will be recognised by industry partners and the International Facility Management Association (IFMA). They can take up mid-level management and leadership roles in Asset, Property & Facilities Management.

Programme Structure

Each course in the GCFMT programme is 5 credit units (cu) unless stated otherwise and can be taken on a stand-alone basis. Upon successful completion of 15 cu of coursework, these courses can be stacked to a Graduate Certificate in Facilities Management.

Students have to maintain a minimum CGPA of 2.5 in their coursework as part of the fulfilment of the graduate certificate programme.

The GCFMT programme is for aspiring FM graduates and practitioners who wants to take up managerial and leadership roles in the FM sector and lead the FM industry in this transformative era.

What is the minimum and maximum candidature of the programme?
The minimum and maximum candidature of the programme is 6 months and 12 months respectively.
What is the graduation requirement?
Students have to maintain a minimum CGPA of 2.5 in their coursework as part of the fulfillment of the graduate certificate programme.
How many intakes are there in a year?
There are 2 intakes a year; every January and July.
When are classes conducted?
Lessons are scheduled on weekdays evenings from 7pm to 10pm and some Saturday.
What are the assessment components in each course?
It consists of a mixture of quiz, participation, tutor-marked assignments, group-based assignments and either Written Examination/Timed Online Assignment (TOA) or End of Course Assessments (ECA).
Instead of signing up for a Graduate Certificate programme, can I just register for one course?
Applicants may continue to sign up for modular courses as CET by submitting an application via the CET application portal. Upon successful completion of and attainment of the minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.50 for the required modular courses, eligible CET students may apply for the graduate certificate. The opening and closing dates for CET course registration is available in the same link above.
What happens if I do not complete the graduate programmes (e.g. Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma, Master) within the candidature period? Can I apply to take the remaining courses via CET pathway?
Students who have not completed their graduate programmes within the stipulated candidature period will not be eligible for the award of the qualification for such graduate programmes. Such students however may apply to take, via the CET pathway, the remaining courses which they did not complete under their graduate programmes as part of their personal learning and development . Such application will be subjected to the CET admission requirement. However, as such students have exceeded the candidature period for their graduate programmes, they will not be awarded the qualification for such graduate programmes even after taking and completing the remaining courses via the CET pathway (“Condition”).
