Overview

The Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Facilities Management (GCHFM) will ride on the recent increase in healthcare demand and the Government's interest to continue investing in healthcare due to population ageing and growth. Recognising the critical role of facilities management (FM) in enabling healthcare operations and administration, the GCHFM programme addresses the growing need for professionals with the technical knowledge and management skills required to operate high-performance healthcare facilities in today's complex environments. Launched in collaboration with SingHealth, the programme will be the first in Singapore to equip graduates with theoretical knowledge and hands-on training in healthcare FM.

Upon completion of GCHFM, students can pursue the Graduate Diploma in Facilities Management (GDFMT) followed by the Master of Built Environment (MBE) to prepare graduates for senior roles in Healthcare Facilities Management.

Programme Structure

Each course is 5 credit units (cu) and can be taken on a stand-alone basis. Upon successful completion of 15 cu of coursework with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.5, the GCHFM will be awarded.

GCHFM graduates can opt to complete another 15 cu to qualify for the GDFMT.

Students need a minimum CGPA of 3.0 to proceed to Master of Built Environment or Master of Management.

The GCHFM programme, developed in collaboration with SingHealth, is designed for professionals in the FM industry seeking to deepen their expertise in healthcare FM. It also caters to built-environment practitioners aspiring to transit into or advance within the dynamic and highly specialised healthcare facilities management sector.

What is the duration of the programme?
The programme is designed to be completed within one year. Students are required to finish all components of the programme within this timeframe.
What is the graduation requirement?
Students have to maintain a minimum CGPA of 2.5 in their coursework as part of the fulfillment of the graduate certificate programme.
How many intakes are there in a year?
There are 2 intakes a year; every January and July.
When are classes conducted?
Lessons are scheduled on weekdays evenings from 7pm to 10pm and some Saturday.
What are the assessment components in each course?
It consists of a mixture of quiz, participation, tutor-marked assignments, group-based assignments and either Written Examination/Timed Online Assignment (TOA) or End of Course Assessments (ECA).
Instead of signing up for a Graduate Certificate programme, can I just register for one course?
Applicants may continue to sign up for modular courses as CET by submitting an application via the CET application portal. Upon successful completion of and attainment of the minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.50 for the required modular courses, eligible CET students may apply for the graduate certificate. The opening and closing dates for CET course registration is available in the same link above.
What happens if I do not complete the graduate programmes (e.g. Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma, Master) within the candidature period? Can I apply to take the remaining courses via CET pathway?
Students who have not completed their graduate programmes within the stipulated candidature period will not be eligible for the award of the qualification for such graduate programmes. Such students however may apply to take, via the CET pathway, the remaining courses which they did not complete under their graduate programmes as part of their personal learning and development . Such application will be subjected to the CET admission requirement. However, as such students have exceeded the candidature period for their graduate programmes, they will not be awarded the qualification for such graduate programmes even after taking and completing the remaining courses via the CET pathway (“Condition”).
