Part-time Undergraduate Degree Programmes
Our University offers part-time undergraduate programmes at a basic degree level as well as programmes that lead to a direct honours degree.
The academic year comprises 2 semesters, January to June and July to December. If you read the maximum permitted study load every semester, you can complete a basic undergraduate degree programme in 3 years, or an honours degree in 4 years. You may choose to take up to 8 years to complete the degree.
Each course has an assigned value of credit units (cu). Students are required to complete a total of 130 cu to graduate with a basic degree; a total of 170 cu to graduate with honours, all inclusive of 10 cu of SUSS Core courses. On the average, our students read 15 cu of courses per semester.
All students admitted into part-time undergraduate programmes must complete 10 cu of SUSS Core courses in order to graduate. The SUSS Core courses focus on emerging social issues, and develop core competencies such as thinking, reading, writing, synthesis, and analysis. Students enrolled in the Chinese and Tamil language programmes who feel that their English competency is inadequate, may choose to read alternative SUSS core courses developed specifically for their programmes.
Generally, classes for part-time undergraduate programmes are held on weekday evenings and weekends (Saturdays and Sundays). Classes usually commence with at least 10 enrolled students.
