Synopsis

Both Su Shi and Xin Qiji are widely considered to be two of the greatest writers of Ci in the Song Dynasty. This course introduces the life journey of Su Shi and Xin Qiji and through critical reading of their works, students will survey the changes in the poets’ works throughout their lifetime. Secondly, the two works are compared in terms of tone, theme, etc. to shed light on their similarities and differences.
