Modern Chinese Literature of Singapore (新加坡现代华文文学) (CHS303)

Synopsis

CHS303 introduces students to the 100-year history of Chinese literature in Singapore from 1919 to 2019, providing a general overview and important works of writers, covering literary trends, literary movements and literary creation. Students will have a deeper understanding of the development of Chinese literature in Singapore. They will also be able to examine and appreciate the works of important writers in various periods from the perspective of history and aesthetics. We will also evaluate the ideological and artistic characteristics of important works.
