E-Learning: BLENDED - Learning is done MAINLY online using interactive study materials in Canvas. Students receive guidance and support from online instructors via discussion forums and emails. This is supplemented with SOME face-to-face sessions. If the course has an exam component, This will be administered on-campus.

Learning Outcome

  • Express a better understanding of the pre-war period modern Chinese Literature of
  • Discuss key writers’ works and achievements (B2)
  • Examine the impact of and debates in the pre-war period modern Chinese literature of
  • Apply new perspectives from the study of Chinese immigrants, history of Chinese in Singapore and Malaya etc to enhance understanding of the pre-war Chinese literary writers and works.
  • Analyze data and information to conduct study and research on the history and development of the modern Chinese literature of Singapore and Malaya (B4)
  • Practise knowledge gained in the course in teaching at the primary and secondary levels as local school curricula often include literary works of the early local writers (B3)
