Synopsis

ECC209 Aesthetics and the Arts for Children will explore the relationship between artistic activities and the cultivation of children's creativity. Based on children's visual arts development and music teaching theories, this course will introduce various activities and teaching methods for preschool children's visual arts and music learning. Students will explore the elements of visual arts, music and movement, and learn to extend their use to develop children's aesthetic faculties and creative thinking. Students will also investigate the important aspects of establishing conducive visual arts and music learning environments for nurturing children's creativity. In addition, they will learn how to analyse and evaluate preschool visual arts and music teaching activities so as to be able to design and plan effective learning activities that promote children'sartistic development.
