ELG353 provides the conceptual framework for understanding the nature of English in other cultural contexts, often referred to by the global term ‘New/World Englishes’. It explores the social, linguistic and educational implications of historical and contemporary developments in the spread of English as a World Language and enables students to understand engage in current debates about the status of non-native Englishes.

E-Learning: BLENDED - Learning is done MAINLY online using interactive study materials in Canvas. Students receive guidance and support from online instructors via discussion forums and emails. This is supplemented with SOME face-to-face sessions. If the course has an exam component, this will be administered on-campus.
